DESCRIPTION | Very good and useful pair of vintage George I (1714-27) style English plaster loaded sterling silver candlesticks with a flattened knop above a secondary knop and ring turned circular base with shallow depression. This last feature would catch spilt wax and also provided a convenient place to engrave your coat of arms. Note the lack of drip pans or sconces as we now call them. Sconces did not regularly appear on candlesticks until 1735. |
