DESCRIPTION |
Very early and rare pair of silver sugar nips, the rectangular box hinge with the original initial engraving C*B. Maker's mark to both spade grips and one with the lion passant. Shlosberg discusses a near identical pair here http://www.silverteatongs.com/4869.html and it is no surprise to find Clayton apprenticed to Gundry Roode 1720-28. |

OVERALL CONDITION |
excellent, very pleasing hinge action, finger rings still thick but a little bumped, spade grip edges slightly worn/bumped. Very old solder to one shaft/grip junction that could be a repair although I suspect it to be original correction to a casting flaw in this vulnerable area. |
