DESCRIPTION | Solid cast silver gilt sugar nips with an unusual bull's eye box hinge and a crest and motto engraving to one of the spoon shaped grips. Motto 'UNE FOY MESME' if for the Gilpin family and translates to 'one and the same faith'. The last three images, all with the brown wood background, are of a very similar pair of nips that are marked by one of the most prolific makers of this period. |
