DESCRIPTION | High quality antique English Victorian solid sterling silver octaform tea caddy with writhen finial, gadroon rim decoration and cast paw feet. Each foot is joined mid-leg with the rear left a fractionally different design (see image 3). Could be a replacement but more likely the silversmith picked a foot from the wrong box and did not notice. The old Garrard card found inside details the tea caddy but is not a formal receipt so I suspect this item was bought as a gift and the Garrard's salesperson wrote the card for the benefit of the recipient. |
