INDEX ALL SILVER
DESCRIPTION Victorian solid sterling silver spoon with a trailing vine handle and inscribed gilded vine leaf bowl. These spoons were most popular in the middle of the 19th century and all appear to have been used to some degree which I find odd for such delicate items. We usually call the smaller examples (tea) caddy spoons and the larger ones such as this sugar shovels. Let me throw this idea at you and see if it sticks, they were for mulled wine. Either adding spices or removing floaters like the old mote spoons of the 18th century.
More information on the woman mentioned in the inscription can be found here:  http://www.victorianresearch.org/atcl/show_author.php?aid=516 (external link so please come back).
