DESCRIPTION Very good antique English Georgian solid sterling silver tea pot stand with bands of thread, bead and engraved decoration and a central laurel leaf cartouche that has never been engraved or erased. The underside I have left nicely patinated and also displaying the original assayer's scrape. Quite interesting fact; these stands were made to hold the newly fashioned flat-bottomed and legless oval tea pots and protect your polished mahogany table. The tea pots were made for a couple of years before someone thought to make the first stand.

CONDITION excellent and probably the most original example available to humankind. No engraving or erasure, no repairs, not even much rubbing to the engraved decoration. The reverse is beautifully patinated and clearly displaying the original assayers' scrape and to the underside of the top rim a tiny solder joint. This is where the applied top rim is joined together and is not a repair. All this delicious detail will be lost if the reverse is polished so I have chosen to leave it well alone. The top side has had more polish in the past and would easily brighten up with a simple home polish.
