DESCRIPTION Later cased set of six Georgian solid silver bright cut Old English pattern coffee spoons with blank cartouches. The unusual, elegantly long bowls with long drops are reminiscent of Hester Bateman's work and the bright cut engraving very much in the style used by Peter & Ann Bateman, particular on their Old English pattern sugar tongs.
SILVERSMITH mark of John Lias over-striking another. The original mark appears to be P B over A ?. I am 99% certain that the maker was Peter & Ann Bateman and John Lias was acting as retailer, perhaps looking for stock as he had just come out of his partnership with Denis Charie.
