INDEX | ALL SILVER |
DESCRIPTION | Scarce set of six antique Irish Georgian solid sterling silver Hanoverian pattern table spoons with central rib, short, single drop, beautifully struck and clear hallmarks and crest engraving verso. I say verso because today we would lay the spoons bowl upward but at the time the bowls would have been laid face down, partly to keep them clean but more importantly to present the hallmarks to show to your guests that you were a family of substance, you had made it in life, you could afford to eat from solid silver. Little quirk of Irish silver of this period is the initials engraved to the drop. |

CONDITION | excellent, exceptionally good, wonderful hallmarks, almost no wear at all. I have not polished these spoons and the original fire grey that remains in little patches is presenting darker than the background at the moment although a tiny test area polished up nicely with just standard Silvo.
