DESCRIPTION | Pleasingly plain Victorian solid sterling silver mustard pot with simple bead edge decoration and a shell thumb piece. The blue glass liner has a star cut base and is very likely to be the original. These pots were almost always crest or monogram engraved, the Victorians could not resist those wide open spaces, but this example has no engraving and I can find no evidence of an erasure. http://www.silfren.com/Condiments/item/M2831.htm is an almost identical example that I sold several years ago. |
