| DESCRIPTION | Vintage sterling silver and gold cigarette case with cabochon set catch. Interior has the simple and discreet engraved inscription 'M Noble. Padiham.' Padiham was a significant mill town in Lancashire but this piece would have been out of the financial reach of the spinners, weavers and printers. The manager of the largest mill in 1891 was Thomas Noble so it is likely this case belonged to one of his immediate family. |
