| DESCRIPTION | Delightful little English Georgian solid sterling silver box with a beautiful mirror gilded interior. To the lid is an engraved spiral of oak leaves encompassing a central cartouche engraved 'EWB', a prick dot outer border and a piano hinge to the rear. Thread decorated sides and more prick dot engraving to the base with a central foliate and floral sprig. The wonderful condition gives few clues to the intended use. Quite small for a snuff box, unless perhaps for a lady, so maybe intended for pills or peppermints. |
