DESCRIPTION | Superb and large English solid sterling silver tazza, comport or cake-stand with impressive hand cut decoration. These pieces can sit comfortably on a side board looking fantastic on their own or even better draped with fruit but I also find them to be one of the most useful items of table silver. They are not just for raising a plate of cakes above a cluttered tea table. Picture your busy dining table already loaded with slightly too many platters, bowls and dishes and you need to bring in something impressive that wants to be seen and served. Looks like there might not be enough room so bring in the tazza. The base will nestle comfortably between the other dishes and the pedestal stem will raise the glorious top section aloft and clear of all else on the table whilst still allowing access to below. This example is large, probably larger than you think so check the dimensions below and will take a significant serving plate. Although each individual piercing is delicate, the piece as a whole is surprisingly robust. Hallmarks are well struck and clear. |
