DESCRIPTION | Very good pair of Georgian solid sterling silver Old English pattern salt spoons with gilded bowls, frontal monogram engraving and beautiful hallmarks. Note a symbol similar to a 'v' in the area of the hallmarks. This is the journey man's mark, the mark struck by the silversmith who actually made these spoons to ensure that he got paid for them at the end of the day. As the marks are the same we can be certain that they were made by the same silversmith and that these spoons were probably made on the same day and from the same ingot of silver. |
