Georgian silver shell back Hanoverian pattern table spoon. The engraving verso to celebrate the betrothal or, almost certainly in this instance, wedding of I*V to I*V is dated 1751. Perhaps the I*Vs had to save for seven years to buy a celebratory spoon or they simply felt that after seven years of togetherness they deserved an upgrade to a more fancy shell back. |
