DESCRIPTION | Fabulous antique German solid silver gilt neo-Gothic bottle stopper, sans cork. Popular in England throughout much of the 19th century, the neo-Gothic style was embraced in Europe predominantly by the catholic church only, so it is no surprise that this piece came to me as part of a priest's communion set. Superb quality and surprisingly heavy. |
