DESCRIPTION Good sized Georgian silver salt with pierced and engraved decoration, four fluted legs with shell capped feet and the original 'N' engraved to both cartouches. The custom made blue glass liner is an old but later replacement, has a star cut base and some internal rim chips.
SILVERSMITH overstrike of John Langlands & John Robertson, significant Newcastle manufacturers and also re-sellers of London made silver. The London maker's beneath appears likely to be that of Peter & Ann Bateman.
