DESCRIPTION Good quality antique English Georgian solid sterling silver caster with and oak tree crest engraving to the upper body and correctly hallmarked with well struck and preserved marks to the base and top.
SILVERSMITH Jabez Daniell, from a continuous line of specialist caster makers beginning with Charles Adam apprenticed to Francis Archbold 1682, Thomas Bamford apprenticed to Charles Adam 1703, Samuel Wood apprenticed to Thomas Bamford 1721, Jabez Daniell apprenticed to Samuel Wood 1739, Robert Piercy apprenticed to Samuel Wood 1750, James Mince apprenticed to Jabez Daniell 1753. The list probably extends backwards although my information does not but you will have the idea by now.
