DESCRIPTION | Vintage English solid sterling silver Art Deco cigarette box with engine turned engraved decoration, blank cartouche and cedar wood lined interior. Can I use the words 'sweet' and 'cute'? I can, thank you. Probably the sweetest and cutest cigarette box ever made. Perhaps designed as a toy, after all, in 1951 they did not know... But, it perfectly fits ten of the standard cigarettes of the time (two remain inside) so maybe a box for the bedside table or manufacturer's sample of much larger pieces. I am not sure and have never seen this size before. It is absolutely charming and would also make the most stylish and unusual jewellery box. |
