DESCRIPTION |
An exceptionally scarce set of four long silver salt spoons with feather edge decoration, circular shell bowls and a monogram engraving. David Shure writes next to plate XXXIV "It is generally accepted that the salt spoon is the least expensive item of them all. This is not the case with those made by Hester, for she did not make many, certainly nothing like the quantity of other flatware items." In plate XXXIX he pictures a near identical pair of salt spoons with a pair of pierced circular salt cellars, all dated 1775. |
